May 2026 was an exceptionally active and impactful month for CLFMA OF INDIA, reinforcing its role as the leading voice of India's livestock, poultry, aqua and allied sectors. Through strategic policy representations, active participation in key industry forums, and continuous engagement with government authorities and stakeholders, CLFMA continued to advocate for the interests of its members while contributing towards the sustainable growth of the livestock ecosystem.

Policy Representation on Rationalization of Import Duty on Feed Additives:

 

On 7th May 2026, CLFMA OF INDIA submitted its recommendations to the Government of India regarding the rationalization of import duties on feed additives. A detailed representation was addressed to Dr. Ani Bency Jacob, Assistant Commissioner (NLM), Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, New Delhi, highlighting industry concerns and recommendations aimed at improving competitiveness and ensuring the availability of quality feed inputs.

Representation on Soaring Soybean Meal Prices:

 

Recognizing the challenges posed by the sharp increase in soybean meal prices, CLFMA submitted an urgent representation on 11th May 2026 to Shri. Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Hon'ble Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, requesting permission for the import of 1.5 MMT Soybean Meal to safeguard the poultry, livestock, and aqua sectors from escalating feed costs.

 

The representation was also shared with senior policymakers across Shri. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, New Delhi, Shri. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi, Mr. Naresh Pal Gangwar, The Secretary (AHD), Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, New Delhi,  Ms. Varsha Joshi, Additional Secretary (CDD), Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Government of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi, Dr. Muthukumarasamy B., Joint Secretary (NLM / SD), Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, New Delhi to facilitate timely intervention.

CLFMA at the 12th India Maize Summit 2026:

 

CLFMA Chairman Mr. Divya Kumar Gulati actively participated in the 12th India Maize Summit 2026, held on 15th May, 2026 at FICCI, New Delhi.

 

The summit brought together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to discuss the future of India's maize ecosystem. Deliberations focused on productivity enhancement, climate resilience, technological innovation, market accessibility, infrastructure development, and long-term feed security.

 

A key question that resonated throughout the summit was:

"Where will the feed sector face its biggest challenge by 2030?"

 

Industry leaders emphasized the importance of collaborative action, sustainable agricultural practices, and innovation-led growth to ensure adequate raw material availability for India's rapidly expanding feed industry.

Representation on Technical Grade Urea (TGU) Shortage:

 

On 18th May 2026, CLFMA submitted a representation to Dr. Praveen Kumar Singh, Agriculture Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, regarding the critical shortage of Technical Grade Urea (TGU) and its adverse impact on the cattle feed and agri-input supply chain by referring our earlier letter addressed to Shri. Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying dated 8th April, 2026 with a cc copy to Shri. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Dr. Praveen Kumar Singh, Agriculture Commissioner, Shri. Naresh Pal Gangwar, Secretary AHD, Shri. Rajat Kumar Misra, Secretary Dept. of Fertilizers, Ms. Varsha Joshi, Addl. Secretary (CDD/Trade/C), Shri. Sanjiv Singh, JS, DPIIT, Dr. Sujit K. Dutta, Joint Commissioner (NLM). The representation highlighted the urgent need for corrective measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of TGU, which is essential for the dairy and cattle feed sectors.

Participation in KPFBA Meet:

 

CLFMA OF INDIA was represented at the KPFBA Meet on 20th May 2026, where Col. Vinay Kumar attended on behalf of Chairman Mr. Divya Kumar Gulati. The meeting provided an important platform for industry interaction and discussions on emerging opportunities and challenges in the feed sector.

Supporting Members Through Policy Intervention

 

In line with its commitment to member service, CLFMA submitted a representation on 25th May 2026 to Shri Anupam Prakash, Joint Secretary (Customs), CBIC, regarding the clearance of Feed Grade Mono Calcium Phosphate (22.7% and 22%) under Chapter 23099090.

 

This intervention was undertaken to support one of CLFMA's member companies and reflects the Association's continued efforts to address operational and regulatory challenges faced by the industry.
